Any officer has the power to ask for a given person?s papers. Two main arguments or concerns have come out of this new legislation deemed SB 1070. The first is that this would open a door for wide spread racial profiling and discrimination against the large Latino population in Arizona. The second argument against this new immigration act is that immigration laws are under federal jurisdiction, and the state of Arizona has no right to legislate on the matter.

First, we have to realize that making prejudices based on looks is a reflexive, human reaction. We hold law enforcement to a higher standard about being objective when it comes to racial profiling, but they are still human. In this act it specifically states that ?race color or nation of origin? should not be used in deciding whether to investigate the crime. It is no secret that the percentage of Latinos that are illegal aliens in Arizona is higher than the percentage of white illegal aliens in Arizona. This would mean that Arizona?s effort to take the enforcement of illegal immigration into their own hands would be worth nothing, for they do not have the power to create such a law. Interestingly, in the past, Arizona and other states have passed immigration laws without being challenged. However, due to the controversial nature of this bill, the Obama Administration has gotten involved.

In conclusion, I think the Supreme Court should repeal this bill. Firstly, if the Supreme Court were to allow SB 1070 to stand, it would violate the Constitution. Secondly, I believe that law enforcement officers should be able to think for themselves, and to specify their options in this piece of legislation is utterly unnecessary.

Israeli-Palestinian negotiations never got down to details on the issue, though there is broad opposition in Israel to a mass resettlement of Palestinians, which would rob Israel of its Jewish majority.

In a Nakba Day speech late Monday, the Western-backed Abbas referred to ending Israel’s occupation of the lands captured in 1967, saying that “no matter how strong and aggressive, it will be removed.”

Hamas’ founding charter calls for Israel’s destruction and return of all refugees. While some Hamas leaders now raise the possibility of a state alongside Israel, they won’t say whether they consider this to be a temporary arrangement.

In Gaza City, Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas said that “our message to the refugees is that we will not give up the right of return … We will not accept any project that abandons the right of return or affects our sacred rights to the homeland.”

In Ramallah, the seat of Abbas’ self-rule government, thousands marched to the city’s central Manara Square. During a one-minute siren, many stood at attention and flashed V-for-victory signs.

In the biblical town of Bethlehem, hundreds of school children wearing black T-shirts with 1948 printed on them marched through the streets, waving black flags that read “64 years of Nakba.”

In Hamas-run Gaza, some 3,000 Palestinians marched to the local U.N. office. They carried banners reading “We shall return” and listing the names of their original villages. Haniyeh and several Hamas security officials ran a two-kilometer (1.5 mile) race that ended at the Palestinian parliament.

On an upbeat note, Palestinians celebrated the end of a weekslong hunger strike Monday by hundreds of Palestinians held by Israel. The fate of prisoners is a deeply emotional issue; nearly everyone here has a neighbor, friend or relative of who spent time in an Israeli jail.

The prisoners obtained better conditions, including more family visits and limits to a controversial Israeli policy that can imprison people for years without charge. Israel extracted pledges by militant groups to halt violent activities, and by negotiating an end to the strike with the help of Egypt, prevented the potentially explosive scenario of prisoners dying of hunger.

Vodafone is the latest UK network to announce its pre-order deals for the Galaxy S III, Samsung's upcoming quad-core beast. Voda's offering the 16GB on 24-month contracts starting at £41 per month. That's not a small amount of money, but Voda's throwing 900 minutes, unlimited texts and 2GB of data, in addition to a free Galaxy S III. If you're interested in the 32GB model, which is exclusive to Vodafone for the first month, that'll set you back £46 per month. That price will also get you bumped up to 1200 minutes, in addition to unlimited texts and 2GB.

Cheaper plans are available for both pebble blue and pearl white flavored Galaxy S III, starting at £26 per month, though you'll have to cough up £149 up-front if you choose this option. If it's SIM-free that you're after, then prices are currently hovering around the £500 mark.

Facebook has been making a lot of promises during a tour to drum up interest in its ever-nearing IPO, but the one gadget-heads have been wanting to hear the most, a commitment to its mobile apps, has been elusive — until now. Everyone’s favorite hooded CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, is telling investors in his home ‘burg of the San Francisco Bay that mobile is front and center in his company’s plans. We’re hoping that means new app features, although Zuck is likely referring to money-making as well: shareholders are jittery knowing that Facebook makes most of its money on web ads that it’s not running on smartphones and tablets. Paid titles in App Center will go a long way towards scratching that itch, mind you. As for us, we’ll just be happy if Facebook takes less than a year and a half to produce a major tablet app.

You’d also get that other big cloudy offering: 20GB of online storage for easy sharing, viewing and syncing of all your hard work. Finally, if you’re using an older version of Creative Suite, then Adobe’s offering you a pretty hefty introductory discount to entice you onto the slippery upgrade slope.
